The name of the panic is Juice Jacking Attack, whatever you do to stay safe
Nowadays we are all addicted to smartphones. Scrolling the mobile phone is not protected until the battery is absolutely low. Earlier, if the battery of the mobile phone was low on the way or traveling, it would have been a danger, but due to the advent of USB common charger, mobile phones can be easily charged everywhere on the road. Now no one needs to look for a thin pin charger. In public places such as bus or train stations, airports, shopping malls, mobile phone charging stations are set up in almost every country in the world where smartphones can be charged. However, this is as convenient for the user as it is a blessing for hackers.

Before I explain the whole thing, let me share with you a true story. An Indian man named Amit connected his smartphone to a USB port via a data cable at a public charging station at the airport due to low battery. After a while, he received an SMS on his mobile phone saying that Rs 60,000 had been debited and transferred from his bank account. Hands on his head. He did not make any transaction in the bank. So how did it happen? After making a complaint to the bank, the bank informed that the transaction was done using his mobile phone. Unable to understand anything, he approached the police.

The police cyber crime team investigated the matter and forensically examined the mobile phone and found that it was a trap to connect the phone to USB at the airport. The hackers entered the malware through the data cable of his mobile phone and hijacked his banking information. This hacking strategy is called Juice Jacking Attack.

Two things work with the data cable of our smartphone. It can be charged and data can be transferred to the computer. Hackers use this to program malicious code on some microcontroller devices where a data cable will make it look like the mobile phone is charging but behind the scenes the hacker's program can inject malware into the mobile phone and steal all its information. It can be any information stored on mobile phone including information about mobile banking, call records, pictures and videos.

The issue of juice jacking is a demonstration of how public charging booths can pose a risk to everyone at a 2011 event at the Wall of Ships (which mainly deals with cyber security) at Defcon. This concept has improved a lot over the years. Basically, it is easy to carry out such an attack on all the mobile phones that support OTG cable.

There are some IoT devices and microcontroller devices on the market today that can be easily programmed to create such hacking devices. As the use of technology increases, so does the risk of hacking. Although we do not hear much about such hacking in our country, everyone should be aware because awareness is the only way to avoid such hacking.

Things to keep in mind to avoid juice jacking hacking:
1. It is better not to use public charging booth. 2. Use your own power bank and data cable. 3. If you have to use a public charging booth in case of danger, then turn off the power of the mobile and use it. 4. If there is a power plug somewhere, use a charging adapter instead of using USB directly. 5. You can keep the connection mode charging only through the data cable of the smartphone. There are some USB data protectors available online that will only charge when charged and the data will not work. You can use it if possible.
Remember that only your tactful thinking can save you from any hacking
